Hot dry breeze blew across the landscape, stirring the sand across low rolling dunes. A thin wispy cloud floated slowly across the blue sky, granting a second or two of shade to the two jasper trees below. A small smokey wolf trotted toward them, her tiny paws leaving shallow prints that were quickly hidden in the shifting sand. It had been two weeks since she left the Ilahlari pack lands and passed into Brena'he territory. Two weeks that she had wandered this area, if not undetected, than unchallenged. The words that Nahani spoke to her were true; she was badly needed her. If she was scouting these lands, an intruder would not last long, if they even made it in at all.
Her violet eyes watched a bird fly over head, landing in the farther of the two Joshua trees. The young female slowed and sat in the sparse grass at the base of the desert tree, staring at the bird. It wasn't much but it was food. The wolf stood, scanning the desert horizon for company. Seeing nobody, she turned to the unoccupied tree and jumped two feet to the lowest branch. Without pausing to check her balance, she pounced to the next highest branch until she perched six feet off the ground, sharp nail digging into the bark. Her prey sat completely unaware at a branch level to her, perhaps a foot away. Indigo orbs never leaving the future meal, she stalked along the tree limb away from the trunk and more or less stepped onto the one containing the bird. It's small head swiveled toward her, a shriek of alarm about to escape its beak before the wolf's maw crushed it's body.
Jumping to a thick limb below, she settled down to tear the scarce meat from it's body. An hour later, the bird had been reduced to a pile of small broken bones, licked of any marrow that might have been there. Another fifteen minutes were used to remove the blood from her fur. Hunger sated for now, she watched the sandy landscape, as if waiting for something, or someone.

The white wolf padded on the shifting sands as though she had done so her entire life, toes carefully placed so that her weight did not cause her to sink deep in to the coarse earth. Her eyes, brightly coloured, scanned the horizon as she walked. There were whispers of a lone wolf in her land, though she was not certain whether to believe them or not. The new found Alphess was wary in her reign. She had only held the position for a scant amount of days, and there were usurpers out there. Those who believed, or were deluded in to thinking, that they could run Brena'he better than this young female. But having her "condition", as it were, mostly kept them away. She was not afraid to voice her culinary preferences to the whole of Taterus, much less the lands of Brena'he.
When she came upon two of the very sparse trees in her territory, the she-wolf noticed that there was another wolf beneath one of them. The intruder, more than likely, thought herself (or himself as she was unsure at this point) comfortable in this sandy desert packland. If it were not for the need of a larger pack, the Alphess would have killed the strange wolf on the spot for a meal. Food, however hard to come by for those who ate elk, deer, and other such animals, was not nearly as hard to come by for Senta. As she thought on this, the white wolf realized she was salivating. Since meeting Cannibal, her usual distaste for killing her own was all but gone. I must be diplomatic, she thought, running her tongue around her lips to wipe away the traces of drool. This stranger is to be approached delicately if it is to be won to my pack.
"You there," she called, all the authority of her position in her posture and voice. "Intruder. You are in the lands of Brena'he, or are you not aware of that?

The sun was warm, not hot, on her fur through the thin leafy covering of the tree. The breeze had disappeared, leaving the air stale and heavy for the lungs. A voice clear as mountain water but firm as the earth itself rose from below. Peering down between the branches, she spied the white female putting on an impressive display of authority. It's about time.[\i] The "intruder" dropped nearly five feet to the sand below, straighting up to regard the other wolf. It was obvious that this was her land, the way she traveled the sand and stood in the evasive desert wind.
"Oh, I'm very much aware of where I am. Nahani sent me here weeks ago by convincing me that you could put me to better use. Now I see why miss." The gray wolf placed slim black paws in front of her and stretched her cramped back muscles. Being in a tree for a few hours will do that to a wolf. Rolling onto her haunches she regarded the alphess, wondering what lines she had to play with. "You seem a skilled leader and are more likely to take full advantage of my services"
She had wandered Nahani lands long enough to get him after her. Impressed with her level of evasion and her joy of play with the minds of her targets, she was sent to Brena'he to be a more active weapon. A challenge and order she gladly accepted according to her training.

This female's arrogance was evident in her voice, but not so much her posture. Senta regarded her cautiously, her aqua eyes certainly full of curiosity and interest. The sand shifted beneath her feet, having stood still for some time, and the white wolf moved to compensate for the sudden decrease in height. She sniffed, nearly disdainfully, when the newcomer spoke of Nahani. She was not overly fond of her position as the house of warriors leader, but that was something that was going to be changed. Senta was looking to start a pack of cannibals like her. Some who shared her tastes, like Cannibal.
But that was not the point of her coming out to meet this wolf. If Nahani had sent her, that meant he had no use of her. This meant a great gain for the Brena'he pack. I could certainly make good use of her, the Alphess thought almost fondly for the new wolf. If not, she can serve as a decent meal for me.
"Speak your name, wolf," Senta spoke, after hearing all of what she had to say. "For I do not tolerate strangers long enough in my lands, unless they become... useful in some way." She smiled quite gently, unsure of how this new wolf would take her last comment. For those that knew her, it would be considered a threat on their life. Cannibal would definitely understand.

The Alphess's reaction to Nahani was evident but it's meaning was foggy, like it was unwanted. Vyra hoped that her services were not in the same boat. She watched the white wolf adjust in the sand, her own nose touched the ground. It was different than the soil and rock she was used to, she wasn't excepting it to be such a change. It was not alive like the forest, it's grains were dead from the great sun's unrelenting heat, colorful seeds dried out with the lack of moisture.
Her skin twitched at the female's voice, her own green eyes rising from the sand to meet her. There was something there, in her voice, that suggested there was another meaning. There were whispers that strange things happened in these lands. Then again, there were whispers following everyone about, even her: the scout, the spy, and in the rare case the assassin. She was raised to obey her leader, whoever they were and whatever their ideas were.
"I stand here as Vyra, and I will prove nearly invaluable to you in these lands. If you allow me to put myself in your service." Her head hung at a respectful, as well as comfortable height. Her long gray and green tail brushed against the brittle grass, sand falling from the fur as it made contact.

The Alphess smiled more genuinely when Vyra stated her name and her reason for being on Brena'he land. It was good to know that she was valued enough to be sent someone useful. This meant that Nahani wasn't a complete fool; the thought made her chuckle.
"You will be allowed within the ranks of the pack," Senta said, quite calmly. "Stand tall, Vyra, and let me see your stature. Your near-grovelling is almost pathetic." The she[-wolf began to circle the other, her gaze appraising and critical. She already knew what she was suited for. The wolf had as good as said it. Such a thin and lithe build would be perfect for a scout. And it didn't hurt that she wasn't bad looking. The markings on her fur were striking against her smoky gray fur. Smiling wider, the almost-psychotic one she got while hunting, the Alphess of Brena'he shook the sand from her fur and stood proud.
"This is a wonderful day for Brena'he," she stated proudly. "We have gained a valuable pack member and a nice looking one to boot." Senta was definitely glad she chose to claim the desert lands now. It was as though it was meant to be.

The femme's ears flicked back, her violet eyes sparked quickly. She had a place in the pack now, a purpose to focus on and a leader to follow. She stood tall, black paws standing lightly on the sand, lavender eyes watching the alphess circle from the white markings on her face. Despite being at full height, she was noticeably smaller than the white wolf. Not only being shorter in height but her coat was on the thinner side showing the strong lines of her carriage. Her body had been trained, formed even for very few positions in pack ranks. Vyra's job would be more difficult in the sandy desert as her coloring was dark and easier to spot against the tawny landscape. It just means that she would have to work that much harder to stay hidden.
Dark ears flattened briefly. Grovelling? The very edge of a snarl kept into her voice, slightly offended at the word. I did not mean to appear as... grovelling but respectful. I have been wandering these lands for weeks, unseen for the most part, to prove a point. It was only proper that I acknowledge authority. White fangs peeked from her maw as she spoke, ivory claws kneading the sand under her paws. Her full stature was requested, the Brena'he alphess might as well realize that she was a capable killer if the chance ever presented itself.
The sand flew from the white wolf's pelt, snapping Vyra to her focus. It was official, that she was now a wolf of Brena'he and there was some work that had to be done. Meeting the rest of the pack would be wise along with making sure that there were no other wolves roaming about as she had. Hearing the rest of the other femme's words, Vyra's head tilted slightly. Her own appearance was never much of a concern for her. After taking her turn to shake the sand from her pelt, the new member looked at the Alphess with expectant violet eyes.
