It had been a year since anything of importance had happened in Ilahlari or Brena'he and, truth be told, it scared him. He had taken the Beta position under strict scrutiny from the Alphess because it was Dynsay's job to protect the lower lands and the rebels from the onslaught of Nahani and his army. He had to gain the intimate trust of the Alphess in order for her to feel safe with him having her back. But since then, he'd had no reason to use his position against the enemy. And it had grown suspiciously silent in the upper packs. It had made him obsessively nervous and was constantly patrolling the border of Dynsay that bordered Brena'he. He hardly slept, hardly ate and worst of all, he hadn't checked in with Chara in a few days. For all she knew, he could be dead.

At the moment, he was sitting perfectly still, his toes just touching the edge of Dynsay's borders as he stared out into the open sands of Brena'he, ever vigilant of their enemy. At the moment, he was relaxed. He hadn't seen a hair of anything move in weeks, not even the occasional snake or insect had been seen. His tail was wrapped tight around his haunches, looking like, in all intensive purposes, a large fluffy cat. He had promised himself he wouldn't sit here all day. He had to eat, sleep and he had to check in with Chara sooner or later.

He knew the history between Chara and Nahani down to the tee and he didn't question her need to constantly patrol the border, even if he was taking it to the extreme. Nahani had destroyed her life, and had literally thrown it back into her face, leaving her for dead. Yes, she had raised three beautiful pups without a father and had even managed to take control of a pack right out from under Nahani's paw but he still couldn't understand how she didn't just turn tail and run in the opposite direction. He would. Nahani honestly scared the fuck out of him. He only stayed because Chara gave him a reason to stay. She was his anvil. She had never shown any interest in finding a mate and he was fine with that, content in being closer than a best friend, more like a brother. Not that they wouldn't find that special someone, someday, but for now, they were both content being preoccupied with the waging war.

It was wa comfortable silence, calm, like the world was had taken in a deep breath and now was letting it out in a gentle sigh. The sky was calm and sunny, with light that danced downwards through the leafy boughs of the trees above the wolf's head. Birds quietly conversated back and forth in a million different dialects, keeping the forest atmosphere light and musical. A lazy pool runoff from a river glinted in the sunlight, and the single female wolf paused at it, sniffing warrily before allowing herself to lap up a little, soothing a thirst that had baked her throat from travelling. Water dripped from her muzzle when she was finished, sending ripples across the clear pool at her feet. Her reflection peered back curiously towards her, a cream color female with soft cloudy eyes. Her large ears perked slightly, then relaxed. How pathetic was it that she found some comfort in any other animal to the point where she'd even appreciate her own reflection? Koara, the lone female sniffed at the pool and turned away, listening for a moment to animals scurrying around her. She would give no chase to any of them now- everything was too peaceful for that. Instead she continued on through the trails of the forest floor, brushing against bushes and trees, the thickness of it all like a protective barrier to any foes. She had smelled them several times already- other wolves, packs more specifically. Groups she didn't want to encounter, lest they think of her as a threat. Coming upon another scent, the strong markings of an male, she abruptly turned in the opposite way at a trot, her ears perked high. He was instantly on edge, his body tensing reflectively but as he gazed over Brena'he, he came to realize that it wasn't coming from the enemy lands but from the no man's land between the packs. A loner. His body relaxed and he stood up, following the scent a little ways down from him. It had been so long since he had seen other wolves that he found it a rare treat to interact with someone other than his Alphess. He wasn't about to scare her off. Hell, if Chara allowed, perhaps he could convince her to stay. The more fighting power they had, the less likely the rebellion would fall. "Hey, you!" he called, catching a glimpse of a dark form disappearing behind some foliage. "Wait!" He stopped outside Dynsay's pack border and lifted his nose, scenting for her. Did she run off or did he catch her attention and she was merely waiting to see what he would do. Thinking the latter, he sat down, wrapping his tail around his paws. Well, it was a nice try anyway. She turned her head and looked back and flicked her tail. she took in a deep breath and sighed some. She wanted to go back but there was just something about going back to a pack land that tore her to do it. Though the male's voice sounded very familiar, she sat down and curled her tail over her paws and thought about what she would do now. Would she go back and speak to the male or should she sit here and wait for him to come to her, the thought of going back scared her but she wanted to know what he wanted. Though if she did and he wanted to hurt her would be a bad idea but the voice in her head said to go for it and see who it was. She rose to her black feet and took in a deep breath and made her way back to where she heard the voice Her black raven wings were held tight to her body as she walked back. Normally she would fly but she figured that wouldnt be the best idea to do at the moment. She folded her ears back agasint her head and lowered it slightly as she came back to the boarder of the lands. Her whole body was tense and her wings were ready for flight as she dug her claws into the ground and shifted her body slightly so if he were to attack she would be able to spread her wings and take off into the sky to where she was safe. It was something that Koara knew quite well, she was quick to take flight if fights showed up. She looked at the dark male and her magenta eyes locked with his golden brown eyes. She took a step forward and turned her head slighty and looked at him as if she were trying to figure out where she had seen his face before. She stepped back and then looked down at her paws and smiled some. It was him, she had found him at last. She took a deep breath and then ran up to him and licked his cheek softly and nuzzled him affectionalty. She ran herself along his sides and let out soft whimpers and yips as she danced around him. Her wings flared out and then relaxed back in as she reared up onto her hind legs and rested them upon his back and she licked his ears and pushed her nose into his back and took in his scent, though he did not smell like him, he had a female scent on him. His hackles raised and he snapped at her, telling her to back off. Apparently, this female knew him, judging by the amount of sheer joy she took in seeing him again but he couldn't place her. Everyone ounce of his being wanted to turn his back on her and walk away but his curiosity was getting the best of him. Why didn't he know this female? "As Beta of these lands, I would suggest you keep your paws to yourself outside the territory line." he growled, not quite shooing her off but not allowing her to get close again. He needed to figure her out first. "Clearly you know me, but I don't know you." he said with a huff, sitting down but his fur was still standing on end. "Start with your name; who are you and where did you come from and why are you here?" If something she said clicked, perhaps he could link this female. The only thing he could of for her was that she was from Mendoza and even then, the memories of his homelands was blurred and shady. She folded her ears back and then curled her wings close to her body and turned her head and sighed some as she heard that he was beta of the pack, instantly koara figured that he had a mate and he was to have pups with her like the last female he had been with, that reched bitch Jet. She growled at the thought of the female, she dispised that wolf but she also hated leto for a long time. He had called her a pup and nothing more. She took a deep breath and softly spoke. "My calling is Koara Bane. I am known as Koara to many and was called pup by you years back." she looked at him with her soft magenta eyes that had never changed since the day he met her back on mendoza, she had missed those days but they where behind her, she needed to remember that. She turned her head away and flared out her wings and then shook her pelt down, she sat back down and curled her black tail over her paws. She probably figured he would look at her like she was crazy but she wasnt, she knew it was him. She turned to the lands and then back to where she had came from. It will just be like meeting all over again." he said with a helpful smile as his tail wagged. "But first, I have to get you accepted into this pack. Chara, the Alphess, is real picky with new comers." he told her. "You need to have something to offer to this pack, hunting, tracking, fighting, etc. We are the first line of defense against Nahani and his packs." He backed up, allowing her to cross the pack boundries with him. "Come on, while we walk, you can tell me a little about yourself. Clearly we had meant a lot to each other by your show of affection. She looked at him with curious eyes as he wiped the tear from her cheek and told her that he wanted to take it slow and attempt to make things better, at least he was willing to do that. Well she was a damn good tracker, after all she found leto after all these years of not being with him. She licked her lips and then stepped her ebony paw onto the pack lands. What is the worse that could happen. Chara could say now and chase her out and then what would she do? Where they were now was more jungle foliage due to the desert being so close with thick vines and large ear height fern leaves. The closer you got to Crosul, the less it looked like a jungle and the more it looked like a forest paradise with sheer rock cliffs with cascading water pouring over the sides and bright green foliage and colorful flowering plants. It was here, beside a waterfall, that Leto stopped and turned to her, a half smile crossing his face. "And this is where we wait. This," he indicated the sandy beach at the bottom of the waterfall, "Is where the main pack camp is. Chara should be along shortly. She's probably just marking the borders." He sat down and fluffed out his fur against the flying spray of water. "So, tell me about yourself. She heard him say that Chara was out marking the boarders, she figured that because the female's scent was all over the lands and was even all over the male that she had hoped to find. She sighed and then rose slightly from the ground and flicked her ears and attempted to make her self as small as possible, She then heard him ask why she had come here and to say a little something about herself. She pulled her ears back and started to paw at the ground as she sat there just looking at the ground below her "i came here looking for you, but it doesnt really seem to matter now. You dont remember me and it is something that is killing me" she said as she sat there, she was getting to the point where she just wanted to leave but she wanted to stay with leto and try to understand why he didnt remember things any more. She looked at him and then sighed, she would have to play along with the male as she spoke again "There isnt much to me, i am koara, i was born to the northerns up in the mountians, i came down when i was a year, found mendoza and you. Then you ripped my heart from my chest and steped upon it." she turned her head. Tears were filling her eyes again and she didnt want him to see her cry any more. She lifted up her paw and wiped the tears. Her wings were now dusted with the mist from the waterfall. Her wings fluttered slightly as she sat there. "i left the lands and went out on my own, since i was told to leave by the bitch you chose, i travled for years and then i went back to mendoza to find you and nothing was left. But i contiued to search till i came here" she said as she looked at her black paws that were clawing at the ground, she looked at the waterfall and sighed some as she walked over to the small pool of water below the water fall and lapped up some of the cooling water, she lifted her head from the water and it dripped from her mouth back into the water. He had been too caught up in his job here, in Dynsay as Beta. His job had been far more important than a family. But talking to Koara, now, made him wonder what he had missed out on, what he had left behind in his lost memories. Perhaps he could make things up for both she and him. Perhaps her finding him was the best thing that could happen to him right now. She looked down at her paws, she didnt want to lie to him but she wanted to be with him and he wouldnt really know the difference any ways. Sh pulled her wings in close and shuddered some as she sat there. The water spraying up behind her was rather chilling in the cool sping afternoon. She looked around to make sure that the female that he called Chara wouldnt appear and just attack. She was sure that this pack was the calm pack but she could never be to careful when it came to alpha's and their members. She took a deep breath again and then looked up at the sky where she seen bird fly by, She wanted to be up there with them but she knew that she would never fly unless needed if she were to be with leto. He had had a mate, a female named Jet, something happened and then he was mates with Koara for awhile. And then... what? He had left? What had caused him to be here, with no memories of his past life, of a mate, and for her to track him down. There were a lot of unanswered questions but his first priority was mending the hole between them. Surely the heartbreak she was feeling was near impossible to bare. "Oh, Koara, I'm so sorry..." he murmured, moving closer to her and giving her a quick lick above her eye and below her left ear. From where he was positioned beside her, his body deflected the spray of water from the waterfall. "I know no amount of apology will make up for years of disappearance but I want to make it up to you." he said with a grin. "Let's you and I start a family!" he said excitedly, jumping up and playfully standing before her, rump in the air, chest and front legs laying on the ground, his tail wagging back and forth. He looked a lot like an over sized puppy wanting to play. "I'm sure Chara will accept you and allow us to start a family! We need more pack members anyway!" He yipped at her and reached up and nipped playfully at her shoulder and pawing the ground in front of her, urging her to play with him. She knew that the alphess would be here at any moment and she didnt want to allow her gaurd to slip. She had done it once before and it left a bad mark on her, she looked down at the back of her right paw where three large claw marks ran down the back side, she flicked her ears and flicked her tail a few times before she felt the touch of leto's tongue wipe acroos her forehead. She looked at him with confuesed eyes and then turned away again. She wasnt sure what was going on but it was feeling odd to her. She heard him say that he wanted to start a family with her and how he knew that Chara would allow her to stay so they could since the pack needed members. She twitched her nose and then watched as he went from serious and then went into a play mood. She narrowed her eyes at him and smirked slightly as she watched him paw at her and yip and nip at her. She shook her head and then flared out her wings and allowed them to strech out. She lowered her front half to the ground and then nipped at leto and soon took flight into the air and soared high above the lands. She swirled and twirled and laughed as she flew. It felt so much better to be up in the air then it did on the ground. She soon looked down and remembered that leto did not have wings. She soared back down adn landed gracefully on the ground. She looked around and sighed, she had moved off a little to far but she was able to smell him still. She began to head his direction. Her pink nose was placed low to the ground and her ears were perked forwards. She soon lifted up her head and could see leto, she soon hunched down and began to crawl towards him and was able to hide her whole body into the ground. [bg=000000][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,true] The pack lands were deserted, all the old wolves had moved on. Only two remained to guard the two packs from the cruel monster Nahani. Chara would never leave these lands, not as long as she knew that Nahani still ruled over Ilahari. Her new purpose in life was to protect the weak. To keep that evil bastard from getting his paws on the last two lands of the old pack. There would never be a time that she would not be patrolling the borders. Her work was never done it seemed. She had raised three amazing pups with no help from anyone. Her family days were over, and now all of her focus went to protecting others. This land bordered Nahani's desert lands Brena'ha. From what she had heard there was sadistic bitch ruling over the lands. A wolf that enjoyed to eat the flesh of her brethern wolves. Disgusting and vile as far as Chara was concerned. All of this information kept the alpha female on her toes, always on guard. There was no rest for a pack who lived so close to others who would no sooner eat them. For these reasons and many more, Chara had strict rules about what type of wolves she allowed into her pack. They had to be cunning, strong, brave, and above all cold. She couldn't have some soft hearted wolf defending her lands. There would be no pity or mercy when it came to the packs of Brena'he or Ilahari. Love was simply out of the question for wolves who would take a place within her lands. Pups were most definitely not allowed here, there would not even be speak of them. All of these things Chara had found in the male whom she had dubbed her beta. Leto. A strong brute whose ideals were in tune with her own. The male had no intention of finding a mate or starting a family. He helped to patrol the borders with diligence and was willing to kill any that followed Nahani. Strangely, she had not seen her beta male in a few days. This was most definitely not something typical of him, and she increasingly grew worried. He always checked in with her, what had happened to him? The purple and red female made her way swiftly through the foliage, ears slanted back on her head. Her footsteps were quick as she followed the lingering scent of her beta male. Turquoise orbs focused with concentration on the forest before her. Plumage swaying too and fro as he slender body moved closer to the falls. Suddenly there was a shadow from above, and just as suddenly it was gone. Chara's muscles tensed and she stopped dead in her tracks, turning her head towards the sky. Up in the clouds the figure of a wolf appeared, swaying through the air. Her eyes narrowed and her lips quivered over her lips as she watched the flying wolf land back on solid ground. It was then that she saw Leto standing some odd feet away from the strange female. Without a second though or any hesitation, Chara stalked forward toward the she-wolf. Although her coloring was rather bright, she was an expert at stealth. She kept her movements completely silent. Her eyes focused solely on the grey and pink female for a moment more. Then her body sprang forward, lunging straight for the side of the unknown female. Her lips instantly pulled back over her lips and she let out a threatening snarl."Who are you and what are you doing on my lands?" she snapped, still growling deep within her chest.
