There was an eerie calm it seemed. The sun had barely broken the clouds and the birds were silent. All signs of life seemed to be peaceful today. Only the slow and steady flow of the river seemed to be boisterous within the land. Water rushing past the rocks in a soothing manner. Calming, serene, peaceful. At least that's how it felt today. Life itself seemed to be scarce lately. Whether it was from the constant fighting or the need to hunt nearly every night had made everything disappear lately. The morning had barely just come. It was slowly drawing to dawn. The morning dew nestled subtly on the fresh green foliage. Shimmering like diamonds from the earth itself. It was beautiful, spring had arrived and the morning was relatively cool. Even with the sun's heat brushing rays against the earth the nip of winter was still fresh in the air. It was enough to cause some wolves to even shiver.
Sorek had yet to awaken. He was resting what seemed to be peacefully in the dark den that he had dug for himself. It was lopsided and some bits and pieces of it seemed to always cave in whenever he tried to slip in for the night. It was difficult to maneuver through it, yet it got the job done. There was a warm sensation that made him feel almost at home. Not so alone in what felt like unfamiliar lands. Everything was different now. He had lived here his entire short life, yet without his family to give him his inner peace and comfort, everything felt strange. There was nothing familiar anymore. And while he was still within his den his mind was thrashing. His breath was quick and hot against the entrance of the den, far too small and unbalanced for him to fit entirely in without crushing himself underneath the earth. His claws were flexing out as his lips quivered. His jowls parting every now and then as a scowl was evident on his face.
Souring his features truly. He was usually such a bright and strong individual, always with a smile on his face and a skip in his step. The morning couldn't come soon enough today though. His mind was in a chaotic war with no help of escaping his inner dreams. There they stood facing each other. Sorek's yellow eyes were filled with horror. His ears were tucked in fear against his head as his muscles quaked in terror. He called out, yet there was no noise releasing from his vocal chords. There he could see him. His brother. Transforming into a monster. His eyes red with hate, red with blood lust. Try as he might, Sorek couldn't get to him. He was stiff, frozen where he stood. Eyes wide and jaw parted he tried to scream. To do something. But there, he could see the bodies of his unknown family. His mother, slayed by his own brother. His father disemboweled and laying beneath Tremor's body. He could hear his laugh, it was mixed with something dark and sinister.
Tremor's muzzle was gleaming, a grin so devious and pristine it shook Sorek to the very core. His jowls were dripping, stained with blood as he heard his words 'You always were the weak one Sorek. You will die with them then, perhaps then that can bring you the comfort and solace you so desire.' His eyes were wild, this...this wasn't his brother. What had happened to him? Where had Tremor gone. 'But now you'll see Sorek, you're not perfect at everything. You see my power...the true power that Nahani has granted me. He believed in me, he sees the potential in those who are willing to remove the shackles of weakness and praise him. He. Is. God.' Tremor cackled as he began advancing on Sorek. Still frozen in fear and disgust he couldn't move. Tremor's jaws parted as he lunged at Sorek. From his mouth spewed blackness.
Sorek screamed in fear finally being awoken from his nightmare. His body had forced itself out of his self made den. He landed with a heavy thud against the earth as his body sprawled out and his chest was heaving. He panted heavily eyes wide with horror. "A dream...it was just a dream..." His eyes began retracting as he huffed a sigh of relief. The reality was that it was not quite a dream. With Tremor gone that was all Sorek could think about lately. His eyes once again open he stared into the bright blue sky. He smiled solemnly to himself. Tremor was not lost yet, he was not that monster. He was just lost, Sorek knew it. He could still be saved. Shaking the sleep from his eyes he got on all fours and shook his multi-colored pelt. He yawned and stretched out his back legs pulling them up off the ground and wiggling his toes.
Not quite satisfied with his rest he looked to his den. Now a collapsed mess of a ditch he frowned. Ah well, he supposed he could just dig another one later. Succumbing to the morning light he began his morning still jarred by the dream. He made his way slowly down to the cooling river dunking his muzzle in and shaking it against his face then taking a refreshing and cooling sip that sank down into his stomach sending shivers up his spine. Sitting down at the bank he sighed staring up toward the sky above. His mind traveling to another realm and another time, imagining all of the games he and Tremor used to play he smiled faintly to himself letting out a deflated sigh. Licking his muzzle he wasn't quite sure what to do or where to go. He looked about, there seemed to be no one now. He was alone, a sinking feeling in his chest made him grunt faintly to himself. No matter. He would just wander about, one could never be too aware of where they were.
With that he plucked himself up and commenced his leisurely stroll down wind, following the flow of the river he felt at ease. The bright morning light gently caressing his pelt and welcoming him to another day, warm and free he smiled. Perhaps he would find food, another food trail maybe. Or perhaps he would find a loner, trespassing and he could correct them as to who owned the land. Every day was an adventure to Sorek and he would live his life as such. His white chest puffed out he sniffed the air grateful for every breath he could receive. He wouldn't let his nightmare consume him. Although the worry and fear for his brother still plagued at his thoughts. He tried to shake them mentally. Focusing on what was ahead of him instead of his construed dreams he didn't want to see his brother like that in his mind again, yet no matter how hard he tried to shake the thoughts he just couldn't help but see those blood stained fangs grinning at him.

It had been awhile since she had decided to take a pack as her own. She had been a loner for far too long so it had been a simple decision to approach these pack borders with her hopes up. With her pelt newly shined and clean for presentation and a smile on her face, she raised her head and let out a howl asking for acceptance to cross the pack boundaries. She wasn't born from these lands and wasn't aware of the strife that had split the land but she hadn't been able to resist these pack lands. There were so beautiful and the creek that ran through it was fresh and clean and she could see the life that it gave. These lands were so fruitful and held so much potential that she hoped the Alpha wouldn't turn her away. She really hoped to call this place her home.
She lowered her head as her howl echoed into the pack territory, eagerly seeking out the ears of the Alpha. She had been raised better then to enter an Alpha's lands without their consent. She had high hopes for a place to lay down and hopefully raise a family and she wanted to have the best possible first impression she could. All she could do now was sit and wait. She wrapped her tail around her legs and sat up straight, her one black ear eased backwards slightly to make sure no one was sneaking up on her as she kept her eyes pinpointed towards the center of the territory where she assumed the Alpha lived.

Continuing on a preset path that he seemed to walk every morning Sorek found himself rather alone. Perhaps it was the rude wake up call in the early day break or perhaps he just didn't enjoy being alone but his skin for some reason, felt prickly beneath his odd colored fur. He felt very unnerved. Yet perhaps it was just early morning jitters. The realization that he could no longer be a carefree pup as responsibility rested heavy on his shoulder that made him feel jarred. He wasn't entirely certain whether or not he could run a pack quite yet. It wasn't like he had experience to call upon. It was just him, appointed alpha, young, inexperienced, afraid. Quite terrified actually. He found himself stopping from his ginger pace and merely staring up at the sky now. He wondered if he was even right for the pack at this point in time. He was willing to do anything, anything if it meant that things could stay the way they were, a gentle serenity that would never break.
Peace, that was all one could wish for no? He found himself lacking answers. His mind raced with fears, doubts. This didn't feel like the same Sorek that had grown up on this very soil. Surrounded by wolves who cared for him. He now felt very isolated, very alone and very worried. It was bad enough that responsibility had been flung on his shoulders, he was still shaken from the loss of his family. His entire family, everything he held dear he wondered if he would ever be the same. He found it difficult to live within his fantasies now, the reality of what he was was staring him in the face as if a predator about to run him through. He shuddered at the thought. His yellow orbs not breaking from the crisp blue sky. He watched the clouds as they tenderly floated above head. That one looked like a pirate ship, and that one was a fluffy rabbit. He felt himself smile meekly if but a moment, finding solace in knowing that he could still find pleasure in the small things.
It was then that he was broken from his day dreams. Previously resting birds streaked across the sky in alarm as a high pitched song rang across the land. Echoing through the territory, bouncing off trees and slipping into rocks and crevices. The sound was booming, it was certainly not something that many were expecting so early in the morning. Not even the wild life. The birds squawking and racing in the opposite direction from where the noise had originated. Sorek merely watched the creatures soar across the sky. Feeling a sort of longing feeling, wishing he too could fly high above above the world and view things from a birds perspective. It was interesting to think about in the least bit. Being a guardian angel of all. Saving innocents, stopping evil. He day dreamed for just a moment, now focusing on the once filled sky, now empty as a somber expression seemed to lay dormant on his face.
He truly had only one option, which was to investigate the source of the howl. It was unfamiliar to him, not one he'd heard before from the pack. His chest puffed out softly as he inhaled a large amount of air. Trying to make himself calm and feel confident. He'd never really been confident, at least he'd never had it tested. Now was the time it seemed. His white and black dipped paws began to slowly pad toward the unknown wolf that had yet to cross into Corsul. He would have at least scented them considering he was within the middle, the border wasn't far from what he could recall. He had to remember that he had to do these sorts of things now. He couldn't just pass it off onto someone else. This was his responsibility and his responsibility alone. His nostrils flaring softly as he did his best to smile despite how nervous he felt.
Nervous that he would seem weak, nervous that he wouldn't be seen as alpha. There were so many things to worry about. He'd been walking for a while now it seemed and still no sign of the intruder, or not yet an intruder perhaps...just a passer by. He wondered what the unknown wolf was doing howling then, they could merely come and go into the territory and it's not like he would really notice. Perhaps they sought something from the pack. Who knew. Quite nearly stumbling on the slick bank he finally caught wind of the other. Definitely a loner, a rogue perhaps. Whatever it was he or she were not part of the pack, that much could be determined. He found himself scanning the tree line, looking for sight or scent of the loner. He had to recall his pack's demeanor toward them. They weren't entirely unwelcome, yet there seemed to be underline hostilities.
Which was fair, considering what happened with the monster. No one wanted to be willing to accept outsiders into the tightly knit packs, yet it was a fact of life. Sorek wasn't entirely positive on his outlook on them considering he had never met a single loner before, well until now apparently. Sorek found the other being soon after searching. It was, quite a sight. He'd thought he looked outlandish but this wolf was a new oddity all together. A striking mix of ebony and hot pink he found himself blinking his eyes a few times to make sure he wasn't hallucinating. Yet sure enough they were there. Sitting quite daintily waiting patiently for something, someone he could only assume. His eyes looked left and right, not quite sure what else he was looking for. Perhaps looking for others, it was an odd sight to see someone just sitting alone, especially if they were not part of a pack.
His ears tried to stay alert, yet he found himself folding them against his skull in uncertainty. His tail wasn't raised nor did he reek of any sort of dominance. He was dreadfully awful at this, certainly. Clearing his throat and trying to not have his joints shake he approached finally. By the overwhelming scent with the pheromones tossed in he could register that the lone wolf was female. Which was making him even more nervous. He didn't quite have the best experience with females to top it all off. Great, today just seemed to not be his lucky day. Swallowing his fear as best as he could he managed to speak very softly, quiet and as clear as he could make it, his vocal chords seemed to shake with his lack of understanding on how exactly to approach others. "Hello there...I'm uh...Sorek. I'm...I'm alpha of Corsul...who might you be?" He kept his mouth in the best natural smile he could despite his teeth clattering inside his muzzle. Why couldn't this be easier? Jeeze.

The sudden entrance of a wolf made her quickly come to her feet, her ears pulled back. The smell of him, the smell she smelled all around the territory instantly told her he was Alpha and she suddenly felt rather intimidated on how he had crept up on her so well and so quickly too. However, she didn't receive the greeting she assumed she would get of a grumpy Alpha not ready to accept her yet. But what she got surprised her. He almost seemed as though he wasn't quite sure what to do. The way he spoke to her made her smile and a small giggle escaped her. She set herself back down on her rump and wrapped her tail around her legs. She instantly felt comfortable around this male in a way she hadn't before. Perhaps it was his own insecurity that opened up hers. I'm Savah. she said with a smile. It's a pleasure to meet an Alpha who isn't ready to test me or interview me before allowing me admittance into their land. Of course, she was still aware he hadn't invited her yet but she hoped to at least relive the tension she knew he was probably feeling. Perhaps he was new at his post and she was his first loner? The thought made her want to wag her tail. I must say, it's always a good start to greet your new possible members the way you did. It's a welcome relief to know you won't chase me away She smiled warmly at him, dipping her head in respect towards him. I do hope to join your pack, Sorek and I hope that I haven't annoyed you enough to let you change your mind?

He tried to keep his mouth smiling yet he faltered. The minute she smiled, her lips pulling up toward the corners of her mouth parting her lips and allowing a faint laugh escape he felt rather foolish. She was laughing at him. At him! He was fairly positive he wasn't laughing so she was giggling toward him. Oh joy, he must have looked really stupid to her. Or maybe she was just being coy with him. Mocking him. Was all of the hatred toward loners truly justified? He was uncertain now. The mere way she seemed to be giggling toward him. A pleasant smirk placed upon her face. He wondered now, what was twisting beneath her brain. Could she truly have ulterior motives. His eyes seemed to narrow slightly, very uncertain about this female now. Her tail was swishing about and he felt his muscles tense in reaction.
Her tail itself was rather alluring, he felt himself eying it cautiously as it flicked and swished about, encircling around her lithe frame he forced himself to blink. Keeping eye contact as he tried to seem at least somewhat threatening. He was the alpha right, he had to seem like he meant business. Yet he was still so new at this, he wasn't quite sure what he should be doing especially now that she was speaking to him. He had heard her name, his brow quirked as he registered it in his brain. Savah. What an odd name, it sounded french if anything. He worked it about in his brain, testing the word within his thoughts. It was rather interesting, though he supposed his name wasn't very common either. Hmm. She seemed polite enough, perhaps he was over reacting toward her faint chuckles. Maybe she was just laughing at a funny joke she had heard earlier, he had to at least give her the benefit of the doubt.
Not every wolf was as cruel as conniving as the monster to the north. His head tilted faintly when she spoke. She was rather confusing with her statements. He blinked a few times. Who said he wasn't ready to interview her or test her? She sure had a lot of confidence in herself. Yet he found himself lacking a voice to object to her ideals. His ears tucked against his cranium now as he could merely sigh to himself. What was wrong with him? He was supposed to be a powerful and confident alpha, not an ignorant pup who couldn't even develop syllables vocally let alone words. This was completely ridiculous! He felt his heart sink into his stomach with doubt. Maybe he really wasn't cut out for this alpha business after all. He felt his jaw tense, locking for a brief moment as to not allow him to make any comments what so ever, gee this was just not his day it seemed.
She sure did assume a lot. Future possible members? Clearly she was unaware of the tensions between the packs and strangers who were probably not quite welcome within the pack itself. In fact he knew that many of the wolves did not want any loners what so ever within the pack lands considering the betrayal that had taken place. Yet they were not so radical that they did not at least contend with the idea. Loners could indeed be useful as well. Yet the way her confidence seemed to over power him made him feel very uneasy. His ocean dipped fur seemed to prickle with slight irritation. Perhaps he just didn't like the fact that she was outright emasculating him but was completely unaware. No matter he would set this right! He just had to. "Uh...I.." He attempted to speak, his voice failing him. He huffed to himself. Well that's just great, really really great..His head was telling him one thing but his instincts were fighting him over another.
It wasn't too late. He still could chase her way. Just flex out his claws and snarl. His muscles did no such thing however. He merely stood there, his eyes wide, a horrified look on his face as his tail drooped down to his rump. Jeeze, she sure had a way with words it seemed. The way she just basically flung them at him, her confidence and what seemed to be arrogance getting the better of him, tripping him up. He was ill-prepared for this encounter, that much was certain. She seemed to rather invite herself into his territory rather than ask for it. The way she merely spoke his name in a casual way made his expression sour faintly. That was alpha Sorek to her! She wasn't even his close personal friend but she was poking holes in his authority as if it meant nothing. Perhaps it really did mean nothing, he was too young to really be offended by it, he didn't scoff and snarl at her lack of respect.
But then she did have respect. He had been watching her the whole time, well perhaps staring was more the better term. She had dipped her head toward him, registering that he was indeed higher ranked than her. Which well...he knew that! Sheesh, this was completely absurd. He was trying to say something but he just couldn't really do a damn thing about it. His mouth felt as though it was glued shut. His tongue was dry and his throat felt sore. This didn't seem to make the slightest bit of sense to him. What was wrong with him anyway? This just wasn't his normal behavior. Certainly he was nervous but this felt out of hand now. The way she slithered her words into his mind was quite unusual. She hoped to join his pack, yet she had seemed all but already invited herself into it. His eyes darted to the sides as he felt himself feel small. Tiny, petite. Not quite a wolf anymore. He blinked a few times. Trying to make the feeling go away. "Uh...Alright...Welcome to Corsul then...what..uh..what rank do you want?"
Blarg! His thoughts were telling him no no no but his mouth seemed to be alright with saying yes yes yes! This was very jarring for him. He was quite confused. Why did he just accept her right into his pack. Wasn't there a trial period for loners before they weren't accepted. Come on there had to be some sort of loophole that could keep him from delaying this female. It wasn't that he had a problem with her per say it was just...Oh quite frankly he didn't know what it was. Perhaps it was because he felt like his male anatomy had shrank three sizes since conversing with her. What ever the reason she now seemed to be part of the pack whether he really liked it or not. Yet who knew, he wouldn't be so pessimistic about it. Perhaps she would be a fine member, loyal and friendly toward the others and in time they would grow to accept her. Or perhaps he would wake up one day with his throat slit, or evidently as the case might be not wake up at all. Ah well, he supposed he couldn't dwell on things that hadn't even happened yet. With a reluctant smile he tried to keep his face as friendly as possible but that was barely possible it seemed. He looked like a dork, his lips parted revealing his fangs as he could feel his unease creeping up on him.

She pulled her ears back, suddenly aware of the awkwardness the Alpha had suddenly brought to their little area. Perhaps she had been too...upfront? With her personality. She calmly sat back down, bringing herself to sit politely like a lady as her mother had taught her and take a few deep breaths. This male seemed to be altogether.... not put together and she wasn't making it better. She supposed she was his first loner, probably first pack member for that matter. He was so young too, about her age and obviously hadn't had his post as Alpha for very long. In the way that he tested his new Alpha abilities, she assumed that he hadn't looked forward to being Alpha and had been thrust into it without a change to back out. Suddenly, she felt sorry for him and she wanted to rush forward and hug him, telling him everything would be alright. But she remained where she was, looking like the perfect picture of humbled.
Forgive my abruptness, My Lord. She stated calmly, bowing her head in respect as she called him by his title. I tend to come on too strong to other wolves. My mother raised me to be social and I feel as though I have taken the lesson on stronger than most wolves should. She smiled gently at him, her eyes softening, hoping she could at least bring his confidence back. As for rank? It is you who has allowed me to stay within your pack lands. I feel like I was taking over if I were allowed to choose my rank. As my Alpha, I leave you the right to assign me whichever rank suits you the most. I only wish to help in anyway I can.
Her demeanor had completely changed to childish teen to polite and innocent adult. She continued to smile at him but in a much more shy way as though she felt the power behind Sorek's position. She hoped to become closer friends with Sorek, perhaps one day closer than friends but for now, she would have to show him she could be extremely loyal and would treat him as the Alpha he deserved to be treated like.

There seemed to be an utter change in her demeanor. The way she reacted toward him. Though his ears hadn't left from his cranium she seemed to be adjusting herself accordingly, or at least in her mind what would be accordingly. From what he could tell...oh blah this whole thing was confusing! He watched her confidence seem to be swallowed whole by her very back bone. Sitting up straight she was even more lithe than he could have first anticipated. She had a very calm appearance to her now. If someone were to walk on them now he would look even more the fool than before. He was tensed, his fur was risen and he felt threatened. She was...merely seated calmly, her poise and grace. It was as though she was forcing him to look like the fool. Getting into his brain and using him like a little puppet controlling every motion and every breath. Speaking of breath he found he was lacking air within his lungs.
He parted his jowls and gasped outwardly. Taking in the deep breaths engorging himself on the air he had inadvertently deprived himself of. Whoops, well that wasn't supposed to happen. Some alpha he was shaping up to be. He really needed to grow a back bone, or at least not be so emasculated in front of beautiful females. Bleh, he as like a love struck yearling. This was not supposed to be how his morning went. Alas, this was the adventure that he had so desperately sought it seemed. Something to keep his mind off of his brother and onto new days, new hopes..new light. She was certainly doing that without any problems what so ever. And the worst part had to be that she didn't even know she was distracting him so. He heard her speak again, her lips parting as she asked to be excused and then called him lord. He blinked a few times finding his brow cock in confusion. Since when was he lord of anything really?
He may have had a title at the top but he was anything but demanding of it. He'd rather everyone think of him as a friend rather than a ruler. For ruling meant more responsibility and that if things went wrong you were the first to take the fall. He tilted his head as though he hadn't understood a word she just said. Which was only partly true, his ears slowly plucking itself form his skull and raising turning toward her to catch anything else that would escape from her muzzle. He shook his head and was able to smile sincerely if only briefly. "Please, I'm no one's lord. I'd prefer if you'd call me Sorek. Or Alpha Sorek if you really want to." He chuckled, quite literally finding himself chortling. His tail twisted a bit as he felt himself grow if only a bit more comfortable around this female. If he had been more experienced with loners or been more paranoid he would have perhaps been more threatened by her.
But alas, he was a young foolish male who was willing to give complete strangers chances where others might not. He watched as she bowed to him and then began apologizing for her demeanor. He rolled his eyes to himself grumbling briefly, quietly and only within his brain. He wasn't completely antisocial, perhaps it was just the way she came off and introduced himself that he was very unprepared. Well, he couldn't really deny it at all. He merely huffed and shook his head rejecting her apology in saying that he needn't have one. One simply couldn't change who they were, for that he could be completely understanding. "It's fine really..I just...uh...You're not like...the other loners around here." Sheesh could he sound even more ridiculous? This really wasn't him. He found himself taking a few steps back nodding in her direction as though beckoning her, welcoming her into his homelands, his pack.
When she told him she wasn't going to choose her own rank he felt himself deflate a little bit. He had barely become alpha of Corsul, he knew nothing of regulations and orders that had to be followed before a wolf could be ranked. He had never paid attention to the ceremonies and the ideologies of the elders on how to place those who had not yet earned their rank. He wasn't quite sure what to tell her. He ground his back teeth together in unease. What in the heck was he going to do? He couldn't just make her subordinate in his pack...could he? He wasn't entirely positive what he could do. He was leader. That much was set in stone. But as for everyone else beneath him, well he wasn't really keen on how to place who. Quite frankly he had no one to turn to either, the pack's previous alpha never being able to give him any wisdom or any tricks on how to choose who goes where within the infrastructure of the pack. Oh boy. He was in trouble for sure.
"Well...what are you good at?" He figured he'd at least ask where her strengths lie before placing her in a rank if she was so against picking her own. It wasn't like if she was going to ask for alpha he'd let her be alpha...He asked because he wanted to bounce ideas back off of her to pick out a rank. He wasn't so iron fist that he needed to make every single decision ever. He wasn't quite like that, he'd much rather know everyone and be friendly than be feared and hated. He didn't want to be like that monster. He stopped briefly and frowned. He looked up at the sky and let out a heavy sigh. He couldn't quite figure out why Tremor had left to join the northern nightmare of a pack when they could have lead together...he wanted power? Well here was the ultimate power. Sorek shook his bright colored fur trying to cover up his emotions as he stared back at Savah and forced a smile. "Well are you going to sit at the border all day or am I going to have to drag you in here?" He half laughed half sighed to himself shaking his head and grinning heading into the territory slowly so that she might catch up to him if she so desired.

It didn't register that she was part of this pack till he invited her to follow him and she instantly wagged her tail, a grin spreading across her face. She picked up her paws and finally crossed the border into his territory... her territory. She was part of a pack now and was given the chance to start over and forger her own path of destiny. She fell in step with him, making sure to stand below his stance in respect. He was her Alpha now and, not only would she have to be extremely loyal but she would need to show him the proper respect of an Alpha.
She cleared her throat as they walked. You asked me what position in the pack I would like and I have a suggestion. She snuck a glance at him, feeling her heart flip-flop around in her chest and a blush creep into her face. She still couldn't get over the fact of how handsome he was. She hoped to get to know him a bit better in the hopes that someday, she could know him intimately. I could work rather well as your Beta. I could help you patrol the borders since we don't have a lot of members yet. And... I have experience as a Beta. She had joined a pack when she was newly on her own and had been appointed as Beta. But the pack hadn't lasted and she had been a loner once more. She at least knew the ropes. That is... Unless you had something else in mind for me...

He was startled for a brief time the moment she fell along side his stride. He glanced over toward her feeling his adrenaline race through his veins. Was he really this startled? He certainly didn't quite feel like himself. It must have been part of his past really. The pack members warning him of loners and their mysterious ways of intervening in affairs that weren't theirs to mingle with. The over all sense of distrust among those not born into the tight knit clan that had suffered betrayal among other things because of trusting one not born within their hierarchy. Yet did that really mean it applied to every loner that passed by? Crosul was different from their northern counter parts, they had witnessed the destruction and did very clearly understand the need to entertain more than just themselves lest it be their own destruction.
Yet it still seemed to leave room for prejudices. Loners were tagged as plagued to the lands. But...there was something about this particular loner that made him feel a little bit more than just uneasy. It wasn't that he was being rude or anything nor did he hold any miss aimed hatred toward her. But it was just the way she acted that made his fur stand on end. Or maybe because she was unlike anything he'd seen before. She was very unique, her markings were dazzling and then there was her fur, so well kept it made him look like a hot mess quite frankly. He'd been lost in thought now, trying to figure out what it was that made him feel so awkward around her and feel as though his confidence had been swallowed whole as well as his male genitalia, in fact he took a quick peek to make sure he still had his proper parts. Sheesh he'd never felt so emasculated in his entire life, it bothered him to think that one tiny thing like Savah couldn't make him feel like a man any longer.
It was then that he noticed they'd been padding side by side in silence. Their slow leisurely walk into the pack land he supposed he should introduce her to favorite spots of his would be members if he had more to speak of. There were a few scattered here and there for sure, but they didn't seem to stick around the territory that much out in the open. Always taking to the shadows or out hunting Sorek had found himself waking up alone more times than not. He supposed it was a bit of a lonely place, but it was safe. A haven if one might. He smiled softly to himself. Though he kept glancing toward her as they walked amidst the quiet. It seemed very awkward, not really one for conversation it seemed. Well she said she was social, perhaps he just needed to get used to her presence, to realize that he wasn't going to be so alone in his own territory anymore. But that mere thought seemed to set uneasy with him, perhaps he had some inner prejudice about loners from his past.
Well he wasn't going to let it affect his life oh no. He cleared his throat just to clear the awkward gap of silence that seemed to erode against his ears. This wasn't really how he expected his day to plan out but alas. That's how it was. It was certainly an adventure, an eye opening one at that but then life seemed to always throw curve balls at him. He hadn't expected Tremor to leave, he hadn't expected to become alpha of Crosul...yet there it was. Life as he knew it now. He sighed to himself briefly before quirking up when Savah spoke. It was a nice change of pace from the silence that seemed to surrounding them. With nothing but the birds chirping and flying overhead to distract him otherwise. He turned toward her. She had been staring at him this whole time now it seemed. Quite weird really...very freaky. He wasn't that freaky looking was he? Sheesh he was merely over analyzing the situation now for sure.
He listened to her proposal very intently though he stopped short when she mentioned being beta of his pack. That's right it was his pack he had to keep reminding himself that. He blinked profusely for a few seconds before simply staring at her. Had she just requested the most highly sought after position in the pack aside from alpha. It was very clear from that mere gesture as nonthreatening as it was that Savah had no idea what was going on between Corsul and Ilahari...what exactly was he to do anyway? He didn't outwardly want to shut her down but that would be something no one in Corsul would agree to even if he declared it himself. There would be turmoil! Outbreak, riots! He'd get himself killed and set aflame for all he knew! It was one thing to accept someone into the pack but an entirely different ordeal to let a loner have power and leeway within that pack.
He felt himself gulp in terror. This wasn't exactly what was supposed to happen. He had hoped she perhaps suggest being a hunter or maybe a warrior but beta? That was madness! Yet when she spoke of having prior experience he merely grinned. His tail began to wag again and he no longer looked as though a horrified statue about to be demolished. She knew how to run a pack! That was absolutely perfect in his opinion. Maybe she could give him pointers on how to run a pack properly or even how to accept other loners amidst the land. That would be a fair trade he supposed. He sped up to catch up to her now, a quick trot forward as he grinned and nodded toward her. "Well since you have experience and all that sure you can be beta of Corsul provided you can help me out with pack matters and such." What a fool Sorek was truly, merely accepting someone's demand for a rank just because they had worded it differently. Had he been a little bit more experienced or perhaps not so foolish he would have shot her down instantly. But because he was a young still learning male of all things. What a flutter of an eyelash and a slow sway of hips could to do him was unthinkable truly.
That's when it dawned on him truly. She had had experiences with other packs. She had been in charge before. Why hadn't she just attacked him at the border and taken lead for herself then? Why had she forced herself to be a loner in a position with no power? Certainly he had to find out more without a doubt. This was all so new to him and she didn't seem much older than he so perhaps she had a few tricks up her sleeve, after all it was better for him to know her motives than be taken by surprise. But maybe he was just being paranoid. His mind seemed to drift away into a far off land of long ago as he walked, the memories of him and his brother fighting for alpha of a pretend pack when they were still pups playing about in his mind as his emotions withdrew into the back of his head. He forced himself to focus as he stared at her. "So you've had previous experience...can you tell me about it? Maybe teach me a trick or two about being in charge...if I can ask anyway I don't mean to pry." He attempted to be as innocent as he could be, it was merely a curious question of interests, no ulterior motives or anything behind it nope, none what so ever.

She felt weird telling the Alpha what he should and what he shouldn't do but she supposed that was the position he had granted her now. As Beta of the Crosul pack, it was now her duty to help Sorek in anything he needed, even if she felt out of line saying it. However, with not many members to his pack, he really didn't have anything to work on... except for his loner approach. Well, the only thing I would suggest working on is your approach to new members. She tried to sound as neutral as possible as she padded next to him, trying to stay in line with her Alpha and not appear to be the one leading. A good solid approach to a new member would ultimately guarantee your success in complete control. Where as, if you greeted them you would a new friend, they might take you for granted. She let her head bow respectfully, a sudden blush creeping into her face as she looked away from him. However, I must say, I didn't mind the way you greeted me.... She said softly as she jumped up and over a rock before coming back down over the other side to stand, paw deep in a puddle.
She made a squeak-like sound and leapt straight up and out, accidentally knocking into Sorek as she did so. She quickly composed herself, turning towards Sorek with wide eyes. I'm sooo sorry! she said, checking him over to make sure she hadn't hurt him. I just have a weird phobia of being wet and dirty. She gave a nervous giggle. Kind of silly actually... She trailed off and stared at her wet paws, suddenly aware she felt stupid and childish.

What she said. The way she said it. It all seemed to strike a nerve. Quite a few nerves actually. Yet Sorek wasn't so quick to snap at the female's throat. Not after the way she had belittled him in the past. Hell she probably would be the one running the pack and he would just be a pretty figure head in which to use his sperm as though a donor bank to make strong pretty children with. The mere thought of it all had him nearly stop and begin laughing. Or would it be sobbing? He wasn't entirely sure. Losing his newly earned position would be something to cry about however being milked like a cow on a dairy farm was not something the young childish male could turn his nose up at. He certainly had a wild imagination. And he was more than happy to use it on silly little things instead of building up scenarios about Tremor which would later turn into nightmares to haunt his every waking being.
Oh no he certainly didn't want that. He shook his pelt briefly as though he could remove his very thought process that way. Of course it never worked but it made him feel better so in a sense it did help. Even just a little bit. He tried his hardest to swallow his pride as he focused in his listening. It would be so much easier to tune her out, to think of other boy things that only males could imagine when in the presence of females of all things. Oh my it was a wonder she had stuck around. He was just a pup in a male's body. Older as he may be his maturity still hadn't reached it's peak. He wondered if it ever would. He watched her very carefully. Purposely slowing his pace and watching her keep in stride with him. Hmm, who really was in control here he did wonder for certain. He supposed she did have a point...If he had to admit it. Not that he ever would so there!
Sheesh, so what if his approach was a little rocky it wasn't like he would...be like that....all the time GOSH! He liked his approach honestly. Better to be friendly than snarling and dripping saliva into people's faces. Well that would be against his manners and his moral code. He may be playful but he was certainly not the least bit sinister. That just wasn't in his character to approach strangers. He had always been taught to treat others the way one wanted to be treated. And even if others didn't follow the same concept he'd at least be willing to be the stronger wolf and be nice even if his stomach exploded with pressure. Oh that would be a sight to see indeed. He wasn't going to really say anything to her about it. No he was a bit of a stubborn male. His hot headed personality came with his gender. He couldn't help it, he just wouldn't be willing to subject himself to the ridicule that this female was right.
Instead, his mind concocted a swift change of subject, a different setting and mood. His smile was wry against his muzzle as he looked at her, bright golden irises locking onto her two toned pelt as he merely tossed in the question as though it was a casual thought. "Being so young must have been hard for you to help run the pack no? I can't imagine the stress you would have went through you poor thing." He could certainly charm his way into a girl's cookie jar if he so desired. It wasn't as though he was without his own set of skills to make others feel certain bubbly sensations. And it wasn't like he was completely oblivious. He had seen her staring, and the way she kept avoiding eye contact with him. Well he certainly wasn't an expert in any sense of the word but he had instincts. And what his were telling him were well...a little not himself either. Ah but he was young and hormonally driven, a victim of his own devices oh how cruel fate was!
He heard her faint voice slip out admitting to liking his treatment toward her. Well that was certainly a surprise because he had not been very gentlemanly at all. He had been very tongue tied, and he felt like a buffoon. But whatever he had done seemed to have struck a chord with her. Well hey if she liked it I have no reason to change my approach around others. I'll just be careful about the next time some pretty thing charms her way into my sense.. His expression was rather coy as he thought to himself. A bit sinister though for him. He was definitely not himself today. The nightmare had all but thrown his true gentle soul out the window and mixed in a bit of devilish mischief. Not that he even seemed to mind in the slightest. So deep in thought was he that he hadn't noticed Savah had leaped over a small tip of a boulder buried beneath the earth and splashed water on herself.
It caught him off guard to say in the least. The way she squeaked he found himself nearly yelp in surprise. Nearly. He didn't quite make it. He merely stopped in his tracks and stared at her. Concern prominent in his eyes. He thought she had stepped on something poisonous for crying out loud! Oh that would be such a horrible fate, to finally find someone with experience and who was...pretty shut up he was a guy! And to have them taken at the prime of their life. Oh he could only imagine the horrible dramatic ending to a newly blossoming friendship. He merely grinned at her as she blushed and began to squeak out apologies for such a simple little accident. He didn't mind being bumped into. Heck he loved wrestling, that was nothing! A brief brush against his navy blue fur he merely found himself grinning toward her. The more scarlet she seemed to turn the wider his smile stretched across his face.
So she didn't like being dirty huh? Well that put a bit of a damper on his fun. He loved the mud! Playing around in the dirt and water was so much fun he couldn't understand how anyone wasn't willing to romp around and play a little. Cut loose and just be themselves for a brief moment. Not be so stuffy and allowing their inner child to shine through. He merely nodded. He dared not laugh at her. No that would be rude, but he couldn't help snickering within his mind. She was very silly indeed. "Oh that's quite alright Savah no need to apologize!" He practically gleamed with mischief as his body proceeded to rock into hers his larger frame bumping up against her with a stronger force than he had originally intended. He didn't quite know his own strength after all. And off he ran into his territory. A silly little pup he had intended to knock her right into the murky puddle so that she might give chase. He was a pup at heart after all.
How could he resist? He was certainly not the best one to give secrets to. He had too much fun trying to play and be merry that trying to be serious around him was probably not the best call. But off he went barreling further into the foliage entangled wetlands diving through tall grass and leaping over vines laughing with glee the entire time. His tail whipping back and forth in joy he bound up and down as though a brother triumphing over a sister. He was far too preoccupied waiting to be pursued that it never struck his mind that he very well might have caused some serious damage to poor little Savah. If not physically she could very well be emotionally scarred for life! Oh then he would certainly feel terrible and spend the rest of the day crawling into his make shift collapsible, apparently den like a pup being scolded by it's parent after disobeying direct orders. Ah but he had not intended to cause foul play, he just wanted to release the horrors of his morning and the tension building in his stomach.

She let out a squeal of protest as he hit her gently, bumping her back into the puddle. However, she had tried to steady herself with her legs but they had locked up too much for her and she ended up toppling sideways into the puddle, soaking through her black and pink fur. She let out a cry of rage as she got up out of the puddle and shook herself but it quickly turned into a mischievous growl of laughter as he ran off. Oh so that was how he wanted to play? She could play along. He was going to get it now. She may have a responsibility now but she wasn't going to let it get in the way. Hell, Sorek had just run off like a pup and he was the damn Alpha! Why not take advantage of their youth before it was all gone?
Still sopping wet, Savah took off after him, her eyes alight with happiness and a smirk on her face. Oooo she would get him back! As she ran after him, her sense of needing revenge turned into something she never realized before. She was actually having fun! It had been awhile since she had just stopped... surviving to simply have fun! She had never felt safe where ever she had gone and now here, with Sorek, she felt as safe as she had in her family pack. As she was running, she let out a gleeful whoop of happiness and all her thoughts of getting revenge on Sorek were forgotten. Instead, when she caught up with him, she tackled him playfully, nibbling at his ears like a pup, her tail wagging and a happy yip exploding from her as they went tumbling down into the soft leaves beneath them. I got you! she laughed, suddenly finding herself beneath his paws instead of her ontop, her fur getting dirty but she no longer cared as she stared up at Sorek, her smile turning soft and a blush creeping into her face.

Once and for all they were off. Barreling forward through the foliage Sorek made his best attempt to not run too quickly. He had certainly more than once outrun his brother when they were younger, though he supposed he was always smaller and more agile than him anyway. Running away from another person whom one was unfamiliar with could pose for certain hazards that he was unaware of or even prepared for for that matter. Yet it didn't really matter. Hopping up and down he ducked, rolled and dove through the branches and dirt alike. Laughing heartily with his black dipped tail flinging left and right in joy. It almost felt like another life time since he had fun with another person. Certainly he could keep himself entertained for hours, reenacting battles of great merit and countless other stories he had grown up on. All of which he believed to be true, not embellished fibs.
Alas it mattered not now. He felt his heart practically sink into his chest being reminded of his older brother. Well..older by what, a few minutes? Psh, they were like twins. Except complete opposites of that. He frowned and paused. His mind now a blur with memories of the not so distant past that he hadn't realized he was still being pursued, quite quickly if he were to actually judge it. He had froze in place when suddenly the reality was knocked quite literally back into him as he went with a harsh thud into the unforgiving earth he yelped in surprise letting out a loud 'umph' as he hit the forest floor only to find that they were actually on an incline and the impact of Savah driving into him at her velocity had made them all but topple over into the hillside in front of them. Sorek's eyes went wide with realization of what was happening a second too late. His paws entangled with hers down they went.
It was a large frenzy of limbs flying every which way as they seemed to roll comically down the hill. He groaned and winced a few times when his back or his shoulder scraped against one of the rocks or even managing to snap a branch against his body from the sheer weight. Finally when the world stopped moving so quickly about them he found himself face first on Savah of all things. Not in a pile of dirt. His muzzle digging into her fur his knee jerk reaction kicked in as he practically yanked his head back staring down at her. He blinked a few times in rapid session. Dumbfounded about what just happened and still in quite a resounding daze. His entire body ached now as he found it more troubling to move any of his limbs or even his overall weight off her. He stared at her as he lay over her his eyes wide with embarrassment and confusion. What in the heck happened anyway!? One minute they were playing a simple game of tag...
And now all of a sudden they were tangled against each other. Now his head just...hurt. Ugh. He managed a bashful smile as he let out a nervous half laugh. He managed to tug his legs free from hers accidentally landing one of his front paws directly on her fur he suspected directly on her chest trying to get himself up. He let out a sharp gasp of air quickly yanking it back into the air losing his balance now he fell back on his rump finally free of her would have been innocent tackle. Sorek's black dipped ears fell against his cranium as he seemed to slink slowly away from Savah. Ah this was all so quick...all too weird and he wasn't quite sure how to react toward it all. He cleared his throat rather noisily as he attempted to speak, jumbled garbage was all he could seem to muster though. "I uh...um...Are...are you alright? That was some uh..nasty...nasty spill we both took. I think you got the brunt of it....S-sorry."
He frowned, his bright golden orbs now locked on the ground he gulped harshly trying not to think about what just happened. Or more importantly how it happened. Sheesh it was like he was tossed into some sort of alternate dimension. And he thought she just said she didn't like dirt! So it was all a clever rouse after all. His tail tucked beneath his stomach he was certainly anything but alpha looking currently as he took a step toward Savah coming toward her side nudging her very so gently his muzzle brushing briefly against her shoulder as his eyes looked her over. He couldn't see any bruising, blood or damage. Perhaps a few cuts and scraps here and there but nothing major he supposed. "Are you okay to....to stand I mean...I can....I can uh...get something to uh....help if you're hurt or something." He frowned, his main concern being to see if she was injured in that little accident.

Too late she realized that where Sorek had stopped had been a hill and when she tackled him, she found herself falling head over heels over the hillside, their bodies tumbling around like a mass of logs before they roughly hit bottom. She let out a groan of pain as he landed painfully on top of her but she could care less. He seemed a little... embarrassed? By their initial fall and she had to admit, he looked cute trying to make sure she was alright. She was the one who had given chase and pushed him off! Why was he apologizing?! She had been wet when she started the chase from the puddle and now, down here, at the bottom of the hill, she was wet and dirty. She was amazed at just how much Sorek had really made her forget her "fear" of dirtying her fur. Yes, it would take hours to clean, dry and straighten her fur once more but it had been all worth it. Her heart was racing, her mind and veins filled with adrenaline and she was panting.
As soon as he was clear of her, she laid back down and began laughing, a non-stop laugh of one filled with joy. She felt so ALIVE all of a sudden and the only way she felt to express herself was with laughter. She rolled around on her back, exploding in laughter that she couldn't stop. Her tail wagged and her feet kicked at the air. After about ten minutes of pure joy filled laughter, she rolled onto her stomach and grinned up at him, leaves coating through her fur and dirt making her black look brown but the look on her face was nothing more than contentment. To answer you question before, Sorek. My last pack forced me to grow up too soon hence my sense of responsibility. I was never given the chance to experience life as a pup would. I would love to experience more fun with you forever... She thought, a blush creeping into her cheeks.
Instead she got up and shook herself off, the leaves and dirt spraying everywhere. Her tail was still wagging and her eyes were still shining. That was fun! she said happily. And don't worry about me being hurt. I only have a few bumps and bruises but it won't kill me. She looked at him all covered in dirt and giggled, coming closer to him to paw a few leaves and twigs from his fur. Look at you... she teased. So regal but yet you are as dirty as a pup. She shook herself off once more, becoming increasingly aware of how dirty she really was. Anything else fun to do around here? she asked, flashing him another grin. If she kept herself busy with fun things, perhaps she could forget her fear and really enjoy herself.
