Fork was in the road...
Kaiser froze at the borderline, gleaming jaws agape as he scented the air. Most of the pack wolves’ scents were stale…but there were one or two aromas that still lingered, assuring the star coated wolf that the terra was, in fact, claimed. It was only these few scents that kept his paws stilled, made him resist the temptation to cross the border and examine the land on the other side until his curiosity was sated. He had been trained to always respect another’s packs boundaries unless under direct orders to infiltrate, and, due to his lack of pack command, Kaiser had no such orders. So the galaxy painted wolf stood in place, toes brushing the boundary line but never fully crossing.
Curiosity begged for him to forget his deeply engrained training, to throw all knowledge to the wind and sate his thirst for exploration. Kaiser hungered for anything unknown and this large land was the ultimate prize: a place yet undiscovered and temptingly out of his grasp. That fueled his eagerness as well, the fact that the one thing he wanted in this sole moment was denied to him due to his own rules. It pleased him, knowing he was able to restrain himself from his own desires. Still…
His paw lifted from the earth, titanium colored claws leaving light furrows in the soil. Perhaps…just a paw…brief, only for a second…The building tension within his own mind had the wolf smiling cruelly, teasing himself into an excited bliss. A single drop of cool rain ended his own psychological game, Kaiser releasing a disgruntled grunt as the offending liquid pattered onto his nose leaving behind it a chilly trail. The nova sprinkled wolf couldn’t decide on what exactly to feel for the newly developed weather. Yes, he loved the rain and the darkness, but the night had already been bordering on cold and the falling rain would only stand to make the temperature drop more. The cold he was not so accepting of.
A light breeze brought with it more rain drops, but also the strong scent of another wolf. This had Kaiser’s ears pricking and his muscles becoming stiff with alert tension. If he was granted permission he could explore the unknown terra and quell this hungering curiosity within…perhaps, if he found the surroundings to his liking, he would ask to stay. He carried many a skill: though his fortes were in the arts of espionage and sabotage. Kaiser felt a razor toothed grin twist his features. Yes, perhaps he would stay.
His lungs quickly filled with rain scented air and then released it in a softly lulled howl, a gentle whisper that would barely cross half of the territory before him if the light wind didn’t carry it away first. Kaiser didn’t really care if he was heard or not, the rain was a pleasant companion and the wind a gentle caress. The galaxy formed wolf was content to wait, watch, and listen.

All the packs around him were filling up but his. At first, it had irritated him but now he shrugged it off. What did it matter? He would take over these lands with or without a pack. But since the appearance of Kage and another female, his hopes were high on getting some more pack members. Which is why the strange male's scent didn't take him by surprise. He was resting on his favorite spot in the pack lands, his belly pressed against the cool marble as the sun beat down onto him. It was here, where he laid, that the capital of this once great empire had stood. Funny how he had chosen it as the main spot for his pack; A rising empire sheltering in the remains of a fallen empire. The marble of the floor was constantly cool during even the hottest days and it was here, that Nahani found solace from the rising heat. It was here he spent most of his days, dozing in and out of sleep. Without much of a pack, it wasn't like he had much of anything else to do.
He flicked an ear as the scent washed past him and further into the pack lands. He supposed he should greet the stranger. Anyone brave enough to come near his scent was obviously someone looking to join him. Most of the rebels didn't even dare cross the borders of Brena'he for fear of being eaten. He stood up, his claws raking the marble as he walked off and trotted down into the grass, his tail swaying back and forth as he walked. He hadn't felt this relaxed in a long time. It was good to know that the mere mention of his name had the rebels pinned away in their little pathetic packs.
As he came up over the last rise, he spotted the male not far off, sitting patiently besides the border as if the anticipation was killing him. Anxious to join or running from something? He smirked either way and came down the hill in the male's direction, as nonchalant as he could possibly do. "'Afternoon." He addressed, coming to stand a foot away from the male, his ever present smirk across his face. The demon within him, roused by curiosity came to his consciousness, taking in the male, judging his strengths and weaknesses, deciding whether he was fit for Nahani's pack or not. Nahani pushed the demon's considering aside and lifted his tail till it made a slight curl over his back, the remaining orange along his back shining like a brilliant flame beneath the onslaught of the afternoon sun. "I am Nahani, Alpha of these lands. I see you respect by borders. Smart." He let the male take it as a threat or compliment. He meant them either way. "You better have something good to offer otherwise you better just turn tail and not look back." he sat down casually on the other side of the border, almost daring the male to cross.

Fork was in the road...
Kaiser eagerly shifted on his paws, jaws parted to scent the air. So many things he didn’t know about lingered just on the other side of the border, so many things that he so desperately wanted to involve himself with. Quicksilver eyes narrowed down at the ground, gaze venomous as he scowled at the earth just before his paws. Damn borders! Damn wolf who made the stupid markers! His hackles raised in agitation, a sneer curling his lips. Just as quickly as his ire had consumed him, however, it just as quickly bled out of him, the galaxy painted wolf slumping onto his haunches and dejectedly glaring off into the terra. He had changed his mind, he didn’t feel like being patient anymore.
A bright flash of orange caught his gaze and Kaiser immediately stiffened, ears perking and gaze becoming attentive. The wolf that approached him had power rolling of from his body in waves, leaving no doubt in Kaiser’s mind that he was the alpha. The wolf’s orange fur was stunning, especially when contrasted against the rest of the brujos ebon pelt. Kaiser narrowed his gunmetal hues into a judgmental scowl. He refused to show the wolf before him that he was impressed. The orange and onyx colored brujo spoke and Kaiser dipped his head in acknowledgement, silver eyes never leaving the others face.
Kaiser continued to keep silent as the other kept talking, his ears perked attentively as he watched him. “I enjoy testing my own restraint,” Was all the nova blasted wolf replied. He stood and looked the fiery wolf over, not even bothering to hide his assessment. He liked the others confidence. Liked that the other obviously knew what he wanted and was certain that he would be able to get it. Power had always appealed to Kaiser. The other spoke yet again and Kaiser actually smirked, chrome eyes sharp as knife blades. “I have much to offer, though my skills lie in what you cannot see…”
Kaiser stretched out his body, showing off its sleek lines and lithe build. “Brute strength isn’t my forte, obviously…” A mirthful twist came upon his lips, chrome eyes almost daring as the star spattered wolf stepped precariously close to the borders edge, only a breath away from crossing. “Now, if something extremely important happens to malfunction for seemingly no reason at all…..well, that’s when you should look for me.” An exaggeratedly thoughtful expression creased the wolfs brow, “If you can find me that is. Or if I haven’t already laid out a scapegoat to take the fall…"
